Allison turned eight months old last week. I keep saying this but every month gets more fun. She is a rollin' scootin' machine. She gets where she wants to go without a problem. Sometimes I will put her on the floor, sit on the couch, and watch her roll. She knows that our coffee tables has stuff on the bottom of them. She is always trying to take the puzzles or photos albums down. We will be moving those very soon. She can scoot backwards and often ends up getting stuck under the coffee table.
We are experimenting with more table foods. She has had pasta, chicken, pears, mangoes, mashed potatoes, and a few other things. She is doing pretty good with it. Our only problem with food has been her blowing raspberries just after we put a spoonful of food in her mouth. It is not uncommon that I end up with food all over myself, thanks to her.
Each month brings new sounds that she makes and this month it is her "elephant noise." It reminds me of the movie "Daddy Daycare" where Eddy Murphy makes the elephant noise while reading a book to his son. I am also teaching her a few signs - mainly mom, dad, eat, and milk. She thinks it is the funniest thing when I sign "Mom" - she always has a huge smile on her face. Cheap entertainment, I guess.
This month we started a new bedtime routine. We say our nightly prayers. Our friends Jaisen and Mahrya gave us a little lamb that says the night time prayer, so we play that for her and pray for our family. She quickly got used to this routine, as I put her to bed one night by myself when Brian was working in the basement, and she immediately looked to the spot where Dad usually sits.
Speaking of Dad, I love watching her and Brian together. That is her buddy. She always lets out with a big grin when he comes home from work. They will play together with her toys. Also in the morning, he will often get her out of her crib and change her diaper. These few minutes in the morning have become their time (and it gives me a few extra minutes of sleep.)

Watching Willa and Jim play have been some of my favorite moments in parenthood. They have their own play language, and I love it.
Hooray for adventures in new food and mobility.
