Happy Birthday Nana!

Happy Birthday Nana! I decorated the kitchen drawers for you!

On Sunday, we celebrated my birthday a few days early. Allison took the tissue paper from my gift and tore them in strips. She then had me help her tie them to the drawer handles. As we were doing this, she told me it was for Nana's birthday. As you can see in the picture, she was mighty, mighty proud of herself for coming up with this idea.

Happy birthday Nana! You are a wonderful mom and grandma. We truly appreciate everything you do for us and I am so happy that you are part of our lives. The girls can't wait to see you this weekend.

Budget Cuts

In an effort to reduce expenses, art paper was cut from the family budget. The girls seem to be adapting just fine.

A Wonderful Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating Father's Day. We invited both set of parents over for lunch on Saturday. The kids had fun playing outdoors and painting (more pictures to follow). We didn't get any pictures (other than this one) of the girls with the grandparents because of the said painting project. After our families left, the girls played outdoors for a few more hours. They were exhausted by the end of the night.  I don't think bedtime has gone as smooth as it did last night in months.

On Sunday, we treated Brian to breakfast in bed. Nothing says Happy Father's Day like a pop tart. The girls thought it was pretty fun to eat in bed. We watched the slideshows I have put together for the past few Father's Days.

After breakfast we headed to the park to play and have a picnic lunch. The girls had a blast playing outside. We went home for naps and the girls played in their new pool afterwards. I treated Brian to a steak dinner. It was a fun, but tiring weekend!

My Little Gardeners

Memorial Day weekend we bought our flowers for the season. Allison was so excited about buying the flowers and she couldn't wait to plant them. That Sunday, we got an early start to the day (my apologies to my neighbor for a 8:30 am wake up call) and headed outside before it warmed up too much and before the rain started.

Allison was beyond excited that morning. She wanted to help plant everything and was very curious on precisely what Brian and I were each doing. She was two inches behind Brian the entire time.  Amelia was interested for about five minutes, which is good for her. After that, she was content with playing on her own.

The one thing that Allison was most excited about was watering the new plants. She could barely wait until it was time to turn on the water. We explained to her that it was important to water plants so they would grow big and strong. She took her job very seriously.

After watering the plants, she figured Amelia could use a little help in the "growing department" so she gave Mia a good dousing of water too.

Happy Memorial Day

Summer 2011 has offiically started. We had a great holiday weekend - we made cupcakes, planted flowers, played at the mall during a rainstorm, did arts and crafts projects, and played in the pool. We also started potty training for Mia.   We took plenty of pictures, so I will have to break up our weekend in a few different posts.
