Slumber Party

A few weeks ago we had our first slumber party. We want the girls to get used to sleeping on air mattresses and in their sleeping bags before we go camping this summer. We had lots of fun eating popcorn, watching Tangled, and giggling before going to bed.

Happy Belated Siblings Day

I'm a little late...April 10 was Siblings Day. However usually these 'holidays' also have a 'month', so I'm calling April 'Siblings Month.'  I put together a little slideshow for the girls to celebrate the memories from the last year.  Yes....another slide show. I love putting together slideshows. I know it is kind of cheesy. It brings me back to 3rd grade when I used to make birthday cards and banners using Printshop on my dot matrix printer. I had fun making them back then and I have fun making the slide shows now.

As I mentioned before I love watching the girls interact. They have so much fun together. So far, they get along pretty well. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Brought to You By....

Today's dance party is brought to you by K.C. and the Sunshine Band.

Last fall, we started having dance parties. This is a good way to burn off some energy with kids. This video was from back in September. I am just now getting around to posting it.

Just Sayin'

"AWWWW RIIIGHT!" – Amelia has been showing her “easy going” nature lately. Her new saying is “Awwwright” when she agrees to what you asked her to do. It is so cute hearing her say that in her little voice. When her not-so-easy going nature makes an appearance, her sayings usually include “LEAVE ME BE!!!!” and “ONE MORE MINUTE!!”

OHMYGAWSH!! - Sometimes when Allison is amazed, thinks something is funny, or makes a mistake she says "ohmygawsh!  She isn't saying it as often, which makes me kind of sad. I love when she says it because it is so cute and she also has the best facial expression to go along with it.

"TA-TA" - When Allison shows off something she is proud of, she says  Ta-Ta!!! Brian and I just smile and try not to laugh.

"Do Allison First/Do Mia First" - This one drives Brian and I up the wall. Whenever we tried to get Allison in to her car seat or to do something she didn't want to do, she would yell "Do Mia first!"   It didn't take long for Mia to figure that one out, so now she yells "Do Allison first!"

A Yummy Treat!

Last Saturday morning I took the girls to get their haircut. Brian stayed back so he could clean the house. I was lucky in that there were two stylists available to cut the girls' hair at the same time, so I didn’t have to wait around. However, it meant that I needed a way to waste some additional time so Brian could clean and vacuum in peace. I decided to take the girls to Krispy Kreme. While we have had many donuts over the past few years, we haven't been to Krispy Kreme.

For $3.00, I bought at least 30 minutes of entertainment value. Allison painstakingly picked every single sprinkle off her donut and ate them before she finally ate the donut itself. I thought that we were never going to get out of there. Amelia, on the other hand, stuck her face in the donut and licked the frosting. At the end, she had a face completely covered in frosting and sprinkles and a donut with a mouse-sized bite out of it. After they ate their treat, I showed them how the donuts are made. Allison was fascinated with the whole process. When I told her it was time to go, she told me “Eight more minutes Mom!” Normally she says “Two more minutes Mom” so I knew that she was really enjoying the tour. I think we will be making more trips to Krispy Kreme in the future.

For Christmas, the girls received trays with their names printed on them. Not having complete confidence that Amelia wouldn’t just sit on them and break them, we kept them hidden until a few weeks ago. Now Allison always wants to eat her meals/snacks in the living room using the trays. She tells us “I want to eat on my name.” We also have placemats with their names which has worked out wonderfully. There are no longer fights on who is going to sit where at the dinner table.
